If you're reading the #MaryTrump book, skip this thread. There are two pages towards the end I'm talking about. 1/
The crux of the issues with Trump, pre-Presidency and as President are summarized well on pp 198-199. The pathology of his family dynamic is writ large and impacting the country and the question I've always had about Trump remains: Why? Why do people enable him? 2/
Fred Sr. did it because he was, like Donald, a soulless asshole who thrived on money and a perverted view of what it meant to succeed. It's important to understand that in relation to Trump. And while I'm not a psychologist, I think we all know how toxic families 3/
impact us. Fred helped Donald far more than is generally known or Donald will ever admit. But once he was out of the picture and people could see the "Emperor's nakedness" (they could when Fred was alive but he was a useful tool for those who enabled him) why did 4/
they persist? He lost them money. The banks admitted that. He failed at all the other things he attempted. And yet people still propped him up, made excuses, looked the other way. This, and on these pages, is why normalizing him ( continuing to) is so dangerous. 5/
He's like a walking flesh eating bacteria that was once controllable with early interdiction but now will not only consume the US body politic but the world's. And still I ask: Why? Why do people see the destruction and still cling to him like a barnicle? 6/6
