My honest thoughts on all of Chelsea’s current players

Kepa:

Kepa has massively lacked in confidence, bravery and leadership this season. Every time a shot is coming his way it looks as if he’s scared to get in the way which is not what you want for a goalkeeper. He clearly hasn’t been worth the £72 million price tag

Caballero:

I think willy caballero is a decent backup goalkeeper for the time being but at this stage in his career he will never be more than that for a top club in the future

Reece James:

Imo, Reece James is our best youngster in the squad atm. He already has the technical ability and is certainly not lacking physicality. He can cross the ball better than most full backs or wingers in the prem and can defend. Still room for improvement though

Azpilicueta:

A warrior throughout the years for us and this year has been no different. Imo AWB is the only full back better than him at defending in the prem. Azpi can get forward and looks to get crosses in regularly. He bleeds blue and is an unbelievable captain

Rudiger:

Our worst cb imo. He has pace and physicality but he seems to get caught up in two minds constantly which leads to a lot of mistakes. He doesn’t know when to push up or track a runner which leads to him either playing a man onside or leaving his man free

Zouma:

Now the other side of the stick, our best cb imo. He, like rudiger, has pace and physicality but he rarely lets an attacker get past him. His recovery speed combined with his slide tackling is amazing and he can slide tackle from behind and win the ball cleanly

Christensen:

It is evident that Christensen lacks in physicality but I think one thing that he lacks more than physicality is confidence. If he is confident and on his game he is a brilliant cb but that might happen once every 5 to 10 games. Still time to improve at 24yo

Tomori:

A young cb with an extraordinary amount of pace. Probably top 3 quickest cb in the league. He isn’t the strongest but can put up a fight. Pair him up with a world class cb and he could become a great player for us now and in the future

Emerson:

Emerson is one of the most disappointing players for us this season. At the start of the season he was the best lb in the league and our best player but since he got injured he hasn’t been the same. He clearly has the ability but can’t get that bit of momentum

Alonso:

Alonso is a player who divides opinion amongst the Chelsea fan base. Imo he can have his good moments but that also comes with some bad moments. When called upon recently he hasn’t been too bad and he ticks all the boxes for a perfect lwb.

Jorginho:

I think Jorginho’s days at Chelsea are coming to an end. I think lampard is looking beyond him when thinking about Chelsea’s future and where he wants to bring this club. But he’s provided us with some good moments in a Chelsea shirt and is a decent midfielder

Kante:

Although he has performed a bit below par this season, I think kante is a hugely important player for us. The protection he offers our shaky defence is astonishing and he covers every blade of grass. Also everyone loves n’golo

Kovacic:

Chelsea POTY this year no doubt. He has been incredible for us in the middle of the pitch. He can slide tackle better than most midfielders in the league. Imo he’s the most press resistant Cm in the league. Very progressive and can help start counter attacks

Barkley:

Barkley has the ability to be a great midfielder in the premier league but lacks consistency. He often overthinks things in attack which can lead to breakdowns. He has a good shot from the edge of the box with either foot and can pick a pass very well

Mount:

Mount has had a good debut season for Chelsea. 10 goal involvements in the league from midfield and an fa cup semi final goal. He is key to the way lampard wants to play, pressing high up the pitch and often coming back to help out defensively. He can only improve

Pulisic:

Pulisic has massive boots to fill but so far it’s looking like a perfect fit. He is a Hazard regen. When he starts a dribble he can’t be stopped and is very creative as well. He has exceeded expectation this season but needs to continue like this

CHO:

There has been a lot of hype around CHO coming back from injury this season and he hasn’t quite lived up to expectation. He clearly has the ability and I think over time he will be a great player but for now he needs to keep working hard and improving

Willian:

Willian has received a lot of criticism over the last two years but he works his socks off every game. I think with ziyech coming in his time at Chelsea could be up especially at 32. I think to improve we need to have world class players not Willian quality

Pedro:

Pedro is leaving at the end of the season but he is leaving behind good memories. He has not been as good this season as previous seasons but like Willian, he works his socks off. I wish him well at Roma and hope he wins Serie A. What a legend

Abraham:

Receiving a lot of criticism of late but no one expected him to get 16 goals in his first season at Chelsea. He can definitely improve and needs to improve but competition and learning from Werner could help him. He can become a great striker

Giroud:

Most underrated player in the premier league? He is such a great player and so hard to defend against. He brings players into the game, takes players out of the game, can come up with a goal at any moment and can ruin defences with just his heel

Batshuayi:

Very disappointing. Misses great chances at vital moments and I don’t think he has a future at Chelsea. He has given us some good moments over the years but right now he isn’t performing anywhere near expected

I left out Cumming, Maatsen, Anjorin and Broja because they haven’t played enough game time to form an opinion.

I also left out RLC and Gilmour because although they’ve played more game time than the others, they still haven’t played much at all this season.
