This is an @clppng appreciation thread!!!
Who is clipping.?

clipping. is an innovative, noise rap collective that burst onto the scene with their expiremental mixtape, midcity. The skill of lead MC @DaveedDiggs, really sets this group apart from the other pioneers of the noise rap scene. Diggs keeps the essence of an MC
One of my favorite things about this rap group though is that they can create an atmosphere with their production like no one else can.

From the freaky atmosphere of There Exists an Addiction to blood, or the hauntingly lonely Splendor and Misery, these atmospheres are beautiful
This is in credit of course to the two producers of this rap collective. #JohnathanSnipes and #WilliamHutson.

Interesting fact about both of them, they are actually film score producers which completely come across in their work as there is a grand edge to all their production
midcity is their debut mixtape and it is an incredibly interesting project that rides the line of noise and catchy. Unlike their contemporaries Death Grips, they gravitated to a static noise rather than a hard rock noise. This contrast between noise and base gives the music👇👇👇
A really textured feel that unlocks feelings and sounds that are new to your ear that is simultaneously addicting and irritating in the best way possible. All of this culminates into incredibly abstract and captivating outro which really highlights what the group is.
CLPPNG was their debut studio album, and this is their magnum opus for what they originally intended to be I think. This is incredibly infectious noise rap that is simultaneously hard and thoughtful, provacative in every sense. How they intertwine banging bass and loud static 👇
To create an immensely interesting listen is beyond me. This album is fun, yet serious. It’s a walking contradiction, a walking miracle. Truly shows off their versatility of being able to be appreciated by music heads and general listeners. A beautiful magnum opus
After they release the Wriggle EP, an entertaining EP that featured elite rapping and lighter production, they released Splendor and Misery, a step in the evolution of clipping. This album marked a new direction for the rap group, as they attempted to incorporate a concept into👇
Their album, with keeping their sound. This record is absolutely fantastic as it creates this creepy, eerie, desolate atmosphere with keeping that orginal clipping. sound and running a concept through it. This album is an experience and innovative.
Finally, last year they came out with my favorite album by them: There Existed an Addiction to Blood. This noise horror core masterpiece uses innovative textures to create an atmosphere that paints a horror core picture of the gangster lifestyle. This album takes all the 👇👇👇
Elements of their previous albums and creates their cleanest most cohesive project yet. Their expertise in using space in their sound really comes through on this album and creates a haunting, endearing atmosphere that’s as scary as it is exciting.
And across all of these gems of projects, they have a story, which can be recognized by the tracks called “Story #”. This really showcases not only Daveed Diggs storytelling ability, but also his capability of writing an interesting story.
Daveed Diggs really flexes his skill in all of clipping.’s projects as he uses one of my favorite tools, alliteration, as well as anyone I’ve heard. Combine this with his fast, yet methodical delivery, his voice becomes apart of the production.
Clipping. is becoming one of my favorite rap groups oat, and if you haven’t heard of them or haven’t listened to them yet I urge you to give them a chance.
Shoutout to @deathbombarc for supporting these musical innovators too.
