Another historical match. Liverpool first met Chelsea in TopFlight at Anfield on Christmas Day 113 years ago. (Wow!) There were no presents for Koppites that day in 1907 as Chelsea won 1-4. Hewitt for the Reds and Henderson, Hilsdon (2) & Windridge for the Blues
George 'Gattling Gun' Hilsdon was a Chelsea great. In TopFlight he scored 52 goals in 82 appearances. Signed from West Ham, he is famous for scoring 5 on his debut (& once scored 6 in a Cup tie). Fighting for the East Surreys, he was injured in 1918 at Arras by Mustard gas.
Chelsea's last TopFlight win was 1-2 in Nov 2014. Can gave LFC the lead but Cahill & Costa won it.
Last season saw Liverpool win 2-0 with Mane & Salah scoring
Many fans will remember an epic 4-3 league home win with goals from Whelan, Nichol (2) and Dixon, Davies, Spackman with the Liverpool winner being bagged by legend Ian Rush
Let's compare LFC Topfight stats
Salah. 106 app. 73 goals. ( Chelsea 3, 0)
Mane. 125 app. 62 goals. ( Solon 54, 21)
Rush. 471 app. 229 goals. ( Leeds/ Newcastle 46, 3)

Rush at peak, 3 consecutive seasons.
1982/5. 103 apps. 70 goals
Rush won 5 TopFlight titles 1 European Cup (& much more)
Salah/ Mane both have1 TopFlight title 1 European Cup

It is difficult to make direct comparisons, Rush was injured during the 3rd consecutive. His 3 best gave an even better goals per game ratio.
