For those calling for the censorship of Netflix in Kuwait:

Censorship doesn’t work the way you think it does.

Censorship doesn’t encourage virtue. And it doesn’t promote the ideas you want to promote or limit the spread of the ideas you want to limit.
Censorship leads to hypocrisy, an increased interest in what’s being censored, and is a double-edged sword that will eventually be used against the censors.

The religious censor the secular, only to have the secular censor the religious.

Censorship doesn’t work & isn’t good.
The better alternative is to popularize good ideas with honesty and intelligence.

It’s easy to try and win the game of ideas by limiting the access to opposing ideas.

But that only reveals a weakness that leads to doubt and distrust in your ideas. You end up losing.
Censorship is a bad approach people continue to resort to time and time again, either because they’re ignorant of history and human nature, or they delude themselves into thinking it will work THIS time.

It won’t work this time or any other time. Not in the long-run, at least.
Morality is about having good and bad options and for people to CHOOSE what they wish to do and follow. Removing choice doesn’t make people moral. It makes them amoral.

Humans function best when they’re treated as humans, not as cattle.
Give people choice and try to be more persuasive with your message. If people go in the opposite direction, don’t blame people or the allure of what they’ve chosen. Work on being more persuasive.

The battle of ideas isn’t won by cheating through censorship. Be persuasive.
