When clicking on the link, we are alarmed to see @NSPCC describe young children ‘kissing & hugging’ as a ‘sexual behaviour’. Ascribing sexual meaning to innocent and normal behaviours from children is what child rapists do. @ChildrensComm @annelongfield https://bit.ly/3fP5tpa
A lot of concerns have been raised with us regarding @NSPCCLearning ’speak out stay safe’ program & it’s over emphasis on children being responsible for protecting themselves from abuse & neglect, along with the definition of #CSA.

This is far from the first incident of @NSPCC failing to understand #safeguarding. They have previously hired unsuitable ambassadors who among other things failed to understand that adults shouldn’t encourage children to contact them online.

It was later found that #JamesMakings who recruited Bergdorf to work with @NSPCC himself has no understanding of safeguarding. This was compounded by #NSPCCs dismissals of the original concerns raised.

@NSPCC have now deleted their original statement to us, admitting that there had been internal failings & that procedures needed to be strengthened. This one remains though & still hints at review. Just days before this latest #safeguarding faux pas another disturbing connection with @NSPCC had been revealed. It is way past the point for an investigation.
