I keep almost tweeting about the f/annibal discourse that's been happening for several months but then the tweets turn into long threads and I don't have the energy to post them. But uh yeah, if you're being a shithead to people and get blocked, don't be surprised.
And by discourse I mean abuse campaigns over fictional content. There is lots of shit I don't like either but when you're using ageist/ableist/misogynist/homophobic language in your tweets, your point vanishes, it's invisible to me, just like you are, because you're blocked.
It's really fucking messy because I don't think ppl should be harassed online over fanfiction no matter what they write but that gets twisted into "oh so ur defending p*dophilia then" and like. Fuck off. Stop repeating these words and watering down their meanings.
The use of the worst possible words to describe this content coupled with derogatory language is meant to rile you up & make you defensive so you either shut up or you lose your temper. It's such a blatant strategic choice. Don't pretend you're trying to help people.
I've said it before but I'm not here to debate the moral/ethical value of problematic content, I don't know that there's things that "shouldn't exist," but I know I'm deluding myself if I think "oh I don't draw those things so I'm safe, this doesn't affect me."
So I could sit back and say "well that particular content IS really problematic and shouldn't exist" but then a new crop of antis emerges and says "well monsterf/ucking is b/estiality actually" and then I look like a real stupid asshole.
If you go after people for writing/drawing/shipping things you find morally questionable without examining your own house thoroughly you're gonna end up on the other side of it eventually and all that abuse you sent to other people won't count for anything.
Or you could just like. Not be a shithead to people.
