Labourites seem to hold the fixed false belief that our politics is simply polarised around age - Tories getting the older voters,
the younger ones - which appears to be resistant to any evidence provided to challenge this narrative. It suits them I guess.

Labourites can just wait for the older generation to die out without having to change the way they approach politics one iota. Plus, they can stick to economics if this were true & ignore all the socio-cultural stuff. Never mind that the average age of Red Wall residents was 41.
Or that the average crossover age when someone is more likely to vote Tory rather than Labour dropped by 8 years to 39 at the last GE https://twitter.com/MattChorley/status/1206854346677334016?s=20
The Labour party dont struggle with older voters as such they struggle with white non-grads *of all ages.*

White non-grads, OF ALL AGES, thats who your party struggles with, but you wont accept this, for some reason, more fool you, if you cant identify what the problem is, you wont be be able to tackle it & if you don't tackle it, you will stay out of office for longer.
I think Labourites find it comforting to believe its just elderly voters they struggle with. If it were true all they would need to do is just wait for that generation to die out. No need to change. No need to look at all the socio-cultural stuff that alienates white non-grads.
Tell ya whats stubborn m8, this false belief in particular i.e that while the arc of history may be long, it nonetheless bends towards the Labour party. It doesnt, bc there is no arc to history.

Anyway, f*** them. I left the Labour party years ago. They dont listen & they will carry on not listening & carry on losing.
Stay in your comfort zone with your comfort blankets lads.
You’ve lost Scotland. You are not winning Scotland back any time soon if ever. You havent won a majority in England since 2001. You do well with grads but grads tend to be concentrated in the big cities. You need geographical breadth to win GE’s under FPTP.
You cant just pile up lots of votes in the big cities & expect to win a GE. So whats your strategy to do something about this other than ignore what the underlying structural problems with your vote are?
The Tories have been in power for 10 years and hold an 80-seat majority in Parliament but that hasnt stopped them from starting to do something about the structural problems with their vote. They’re not daft. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jul/09/ministers-to-ditch-target-of-50-of-young-people-in-england-going-to-university
Its pretty clear, in any case, that a focus upon economics is going to get the Labour party only so far & no further with the voters that they have lost.
