I'm home tonight. Two thoughts:

1. I am immensely impressed by @WallofMoms tonight.

2. There have always been mothers at these protests. Young mothers. Black mothers. Indigenous mothers. They've been here every night. They don't deserve to be tear gassed either.

(1/4)
So often, we see white women, particularly white mothers, as inherently innocent or fragile or deserving extra protection.

Black and Indigenous mothers are often given fewer resources and fewer protections. When their children are killed by police violence, who listens to them?
Mothers have always been fighting for their children.

Mothers have ALWAYS BEEN AT THESE PROTESTS.

The fact that people are only listening to white mothers in matching yellow shirts says a lot about how far folks have to go towards antiracism.
These protests are about Black lives. It's about the violence perpetrated by police towards BLACK PEOPLE, including Black mothers.

I think @wallofmoms knows that. Don't forget.

Also: Black folks have already tweeted all of this. Listen to them over me.
Two excellent people to follow who were already talking about this:
