Lost whatever remaining brain cells I had, reading these asinine travel arguments.

Expecting the Government to act like your parents, to ground you in your room and lock the door, is weird.

Just be a normal adult, make sensible decisions for yourself and for your family.
Government advice is very clear that big indoor house parties are a terrible idea, currently.

Can they stop you throwing one?

Of course not. It's just advice for your health.

The best they can do is get the Guards to break it up, after someone conscientiously snitches on you.
Their advice on travel is very clear, too.

Can they stop you?

Of course not but just like house parties, it's not their responsibility to even try stop you.

It's your responsibility not to risk your own health and the health of your family.
Lets say you're from Kildare and booked a family holiday to Malta in January. You're due off next week.

Malta currently has 11 times less infection than Kildare.

A risk in that journey is mingling in Dublin Airport without a mask but arriving in Malta, it's as safe as can be.
Now lets take the same Kildare person who booked a family holiday to Lisbon.

Portugal has 10 times more infection than Ireland, with Lisbon specifically having almost two dozen times more infection.

You're placing your family in a lot of additional risk going ahead with that.
These are adult choices.

They'll remain choices even if Dublin airport vanished off the face of the Earth; because you're always one drive away from Belfast airport, one boat away from UK airports.

It's not up to the Government to stop people from being an idiot.
The enforcement of quarantine on return is a Government remit.

Quarantine itself still depends on human behaviour, quarantines have failed miserably during this pandemic in places where that behaviour is "numpty-like".

It always devolves into personal responsibility.
The safest thing you can do to protect your family is to stay at home.

Next safest thing you can do is to travel to a Green List country.

Least safest things you can do is throw big house parties, act like it's New Years Eve 1999 - or venture off to the likes of Qatar & Brazil.
I want all of you to be alive and well, so my advice for anyone that cares, would be stay at home where possible.

But I'm not your parent and it's not up to anyone else to stop you - if you decide to take risks, good luck with them.
