Dear @MatthewGreenNDP

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for advocating so strongly for PWD today. My friend, who paid hundreds of thousands in taxes during her career, & who now finds herself living in the deepest levels of poverty on ODSP, also thanks you.
Her heart broke when Doug Ford was elected, and killed Ontario's BI pilot project. She didn't take part in it, but she had hopes that once the study proved what most of us already know, it would be implemented as permanent policy. She has practically given up hope at this point.
She was completely crushed when it became apparent that neither the provincial @fordnation government nor the federal @justintrudeau government really didn't care about PWD. I truly fear for her right now. She won't qualify for the $600, because she can't afford to get the DTC
forms completed. Her doctor charges $75 for completing the forms, that she simply doesn't have, unless she doesn't want to eat for the month. @CQualtro told people to apply for the DTC, but has not told people how they're supposed to pay their doctors to complete the form, so
once again, the people who need the money most, are blocked at every turn. The federal and provincial governments are in breach of Article 28 of the @UN_Enable Convention for failing to ensure PWD have an adequate standard of living, and that includes providing for them
financially. A guaranteed livable/basic income would go a very long way to at least ensure that Article 28 of the UN Convention was being upheld, but no level of government cares enough about PWD to even abide the legally binding Convention they agreed to, in 2018.
The lives of PWD were greatly improved with this BI pilot. People were less depressed, some felt empowered for the first time in a long time, and it helped them build confidence. Some were even able to take care of themselves well enough, with a proper diet that they weren't
