not sure i understand how the famous tiktok sisters can get and advertise their own makeup line and say it’s “to show young girls that they’re beautiful with or without makeup” like... you’re literally trying to sell them makeup i feel like that’s contradictory in and of itself

like..... you’re beautiful without it! but also you need to buy it

there is no ad in existence that sends the message of “you’re fine with or without this product, take it or leave it” that’s just not how it works

ads inherently are telling you “you are better off WITH this product” i don’t care what else you put in it but if you advertise a product, especially to young girls, you are telling people that they need it, even if you also tell them they don’t. it’s harmful no matter what

go off and advertise makeup to young teens if you want i guess (that’s a whole other discussion) but it’s just hypocritical to do it and try to act like you aren’t still perpetuating the harmful culture that tells girls they aren’t pretty without it. you’re almost making it worse

actually i take that back. they ARE making it worse by doing that because then the message is put in these girls’ minds even more subconsciously than they could know. anyway that’s enough goodnight
