Rush fees are standard

If someone asks for a discount to "establish a relationship" they'll expect that rate forever

Get a good accountant, taxes will gut you

Non-artists who want to partner with you just want to make money off your work https://twitter.com/loishh/status/1285627863618682881
I had a partnership with some web devs who did order fulfillment and site management for me from 2010 to 2012. They took 40% of my earnings, would forget to ship orders, and pirated licenses for my site plug-ins. It took years before I trusted anyone else in that role again
My old accountant told me there was never a need to become an SCorp, and a pass through LLC was fine for a company my size. In 2018 I owed $105,000 (you read that right) in taxes. For 2019, with a proper accountant, I owed 1/10th that amount.
I once cut a deal with a client to pay a 10% down, 90% on delivery for a project. They also talked me down 30% on the job "as a sign of good faith" in our continuing business relationship. The remaining 90% was paid 60 days late; they ignored the late fee clause in our contract
People WILL screw you if you aren't careful. 90% of my work history has been with truly fantastic clients and passionate people who want to make cool things happen, but don't assume everyone has the passion you do. Be smart and don't let art obscure the business side of things!
