Insurgent operations focused on decreasing support to existing government. Simultaneously, competent insurgents try to gain support for the movement w/ propaganda, coercion, by causing terror. If they cannot gain active support, they will seek silent passive support ( @GOP)

Insurgent efforts damage or destroy both real and perceived economic & political targets. Loss of gov't services, overreaction by government forces, or a belief the gov't is powerless against the insurgency contributes to the population’s dissatisfaction with the government.

The guerrilla seeks to gain small psychological victories. These victories do not need to be significant in terms of material damage to the government or its armed forces. These tactical victories show that a small guerrilla force can defeat the much larger government force. MN

By defeating small elements (local LE) & attacking gov't agencies, guerrilla's weakens the resolve of gov't employees & forces. Small gov't forces & agencies b/c aware of their vulnerability. Desertion, absence from work, WILLINGNESS TO COMPROMISE, (taking knee) are their goals

By attacking vocal opponents and certain types of people,(Tucker folks on Social Media) such as teachers, the insurgents seek to frighten the population. (Missouri Gun owners, Fired Teacher that supported Trump etc Guerrillas seek to acquire govt wpns, uniforms, equip (loot)

Insurgents often use their ideology to show the population how they can address the root causes that the government cannot provide or is not providing. Insurgent ideology attempts to provide a vision of how a society, including a political and economic system, should be (marxism)

Ideology should not be confused with the insurgent strategy, which is the way that the insurgents intend to achieve their end state. Two of the most identifiable insurgent ideologies have been communism and religious extremism. We are seeing both as part of a Mass-line attack

Political support is the active promotion of insurgents’ strategic goals in intn'l forums. These forums such as the United Nations, trade sanctions and embargoes, and the creation of political discussion in the Unites States can all provide political support. (China)
