The past 4 months have been almost entirely consumed with planning to try and have classes @PittTweet safely. My observations:
1. There is still so much we don’t know. And won’t know.
2. People have different tolerance for risks.
3. No plan is going to make everyone happy.
4. We can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
5. I have no idea what the “right” decision is or if it even exists.
6. Compared with other institutions of higher ed, all of us at @PittTweet are far better off.
7. People who think one decision is “easy” don’t understand the complexity of everything.
8. There will always be people who take advantage of crises to advance their own personal agendas.
9. 90% of people are reasonable. 10% think anyone who disagrees with them at all is dumb.
10. I am amazed at the number of thoughtful colleagues who have devoted hours to this process.
11. The people who complain the loudest also are willing to give almost no effort to come up with solutions.
12. Given my role, I feel responsible for whatever happens—even if I was not on board with it.
13. The fact that there is no end in sight is exhausting.
14. Like many others with kids...I feel paralyzed in trying to decide if he should attend school.

\\END for now.
