Some thoughts on Milwaukee giving in to Privatizers and Educational Capitalists. (a thread)

2. Colleges may have the capacity to move lectures and labs to create appropriate social distancing... Public Schools don't have that capacity.
3. The Health Department says that detailed plans will have to be filed before they will be allowed to open. As any teacher can tell you, you can have a plan, but often by 8:15 you're calling an audible.
4. Charter Schools want to open so they can syphon off kids from public schools, keep them through third Friday (what a coincidence that is right around the time that kids will start presenting symptoms), then release them back to MPS.
5. Public schools will take those sick kids, because that is what we do... AND IT WILL PUT THE REST OF US AT A HIGHER RISK... all in the name of Educational Capitalism.
6. The articles also says that Milwaukee Health Commissioner Jeanette Kowalik wants to "create a template and guidance on how to create a plan, because not every school has the resources to put one together."
6 (cont.) IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE RESOURCES TO PUT TOGETHER A PLAN, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW IT WITH FIDELITY?
7. The numbers in Wisconsin are rising. We need Leadership. @MayorOfMKE ... Please do the job that we need of you, no more Mr. Nice Guy. No more "Aww Shucks." Time to step up and lead the city. You don't need to be popular if your are right. And being wrong includes a body count.
8. @GovEvers - We need you to lead. We know that the deck and the courts are stacked against you. BUT PICK THE FIGHT. YOU KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH BULLIES, YOU REDIRECT THEM, YOU FIND OUT WHAT IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THEIR BEHAVIOR, THEN YOU GET THEIR FAMILIES INVOLVED.
8 (cont.) In this example of Vos and Fitzgerald you announce policy after policy and let them challenge you in court. You make them take a stand against science, you make them stand against safety, you make them take a stand against children and their families.
8 (cont... again) You make them stand with the bosses that are screwing their workers. Then you go to their districts... door to door if you have to... and tell everyone in their districts about their behavior, and bring the receipts.
Time to tell the people in power that I would like a word. We all would like a word.
