My Dad took me to the #Indy500 for the first time in 1994 when I was 10. You know who took him to the 500 for the first time? Roger Penske. 1/4
In 1978, my Dad was working as a bartender in Indy. One day, RP comes into the bar, strikes up a conversation with my Dad, and it comes up that my Dad has never been to the @IMS. RP said heâd send my Dad tickets. My Dad was thankful, but assumed it was just lip service. 2/4
Lo and behold, a few days later, the tickets show up in the mailbox. Long story short: my Dad goes, gets completely hooked, and our family is now on our third generation of raving @IndyCar fans. All because of one 20 minute interaction with Roger Penske 40 years ago. 3/4
To this day, my 71 year old Dad is a huge @Team_Penske fan, and I am forever grateful that Roger did that one really nice thing for my family before I was even born. It was probably nothing for him, but he set in motion something that now is a core part of my family culture. 4/4
