Eastern Idaho's board of health is meeting in a few minutes to vote on an order to mandate masks and ban large events in Bonneville County, the region's most populous.

Last week, board issued a similar order for Teton bc it breached that threshold, too. This order looks pretty much the same as that one.

Board unanimously approved that one.

First up, area doctors are talking. Last week, several of them urged the board to mandate masks now (before the board issued the Teton one).

The region is in the green (on scale of yellow, orange, red) for risk. Board's plan calls for mandate in yellow.
Dr. Richard Nathan, infectious disese expert at IF community hospital, says he's seeing more and more COVID patients admitted now. Currently 3 in ICU there. He says the uptick will keep growing. "That's just the normal progression of the disease."
Rachel Gonzalez, CEO, says Madison Memorial Hospital is doing OK. ICU and hospital capacity are good. But Gonzalez says patients coming in are more intense than previously. She leads the Idaho Hospital Association and says statewide there r "intermittent" PPE shortages
Keith Gangey, CEO of Teton Valley Hospital, isn't caring for a COVID patient. But he's seen the % positivty rate on tests rise lately, as high as 17%. His hops also runs a COVID hotline and he says he's seeing an influx of calls.
Jeanie Gentry, CEO of Salmon's hosptial, says "Right now, we are sitting fine" with resources and "even with testing abilities."
