Since there is currently (and always) a lot of shit flying around about influencers and specifically beer influencers.. I'm going to unload my honest thoughts here.
I'm working on an actual written piece on this topic. But it's taking some time because, life.
I'd like to preface this with - these are MY thoughts and MY opinions. I don't speak for any other "influencers".

Instagram is a visual platform, so there are going to be all kinds of photos. You can choose to look at or engage with these things, or you can continue scrolling.
If you hate influencers, can you ask yourself why? Is it because they sell you products? Name a brewery or a product that you love. If they reached out to you and said "We love your photos. We'll pay you $1000 to promote us on your page and share your thoughts!" Would you turn
this opportunity down? If yes, why? And what is wrong with agreeing to promote a product that you enjoy?

Personally when a brand contacts me, I do research on them. I request samples prior to any commitment. Why are influencers always so positive about these products? Because
we (well, I) turn down things that don't interest me or align with my morals.
I lost most of my income due to COVID. A brand offered me $750 for a promo. I turned it down because I didn't like their product. I turn down more shit than I accept.

Maybe you hate that influencers
get free shit and get paid.
PreCOVID I worked 60hrs/wk. On top of that I ran a successful instagram account. You think social media is easy? WRONG. Ask anyone who does it professionally. I had to learn to set boundaries for myself because it is a never ending job.
I get free shit + get paid because my account has VALUE to brands. I have spent years building a platform that is highly engaging and authentic. I am a: social media manager, copy writer, photographer, model, H+MUA, ambassador, and 1000 other things. DAYS + HOURS go into creating
content. I deserve to be compensated for that time. I also deserve to be compensated for reaching a brands niche/target audience and with a post that I *ensure* performs well.
