I was told by a pharmacist today that I should take less of my pain medication because it has stronger effects on Black people (basically Tylenol). However, I am unable to find any research to support this claim. Though, I did find some research on racial bias in pain treatment.
Research suggests that because of the false perceptions surrounding the biological differences between Black and white folks, Black people are often perceived as having higher tolerance for pain. These baises often impacts the assessment and treatment of pain by medical personnel
