#LoriLIEfoot's #LandmarkOrdinance is part of city trend to use "historic preservation" or "green space enhancements" to gentrify communities not improve them or save Pilsen. These efforts, like 606 Trail, attract developers, richer ppl & price-out existent residents 4/8
#LoriLIEfoot's #LandmarkOrdinance is part of her war on Pilsen & Mexican Americans. @chicagosmayor said 10yrs ago Pilsen was a hood to be afraid of "after dark" but now is "thriving" bcuz of "economic development." Forgets Pilsen lost 25% of Latino pop. & over 10k+ residents. 5/8
#LoriLIEfoot's #LandmarkOrdinance for Pilsen is racist: it will compound displacement of Brown ppl in Pilsen but it also aims to only designate homes with European (Bohemian) architecture as a "landmark." @chicagosmayor wants no trace of us in this city. 6/8
#LoriLIEfoot's using emergency powers to push for #LandmarkOrdinance in Pilsen is related to HILCO demolition: both reflect @chicagosmayor exploiting pandemic to support interest of wealthy at the expense of Brown lives. 7/8
#LoriLIEfoot's #LandmarkOrdinance will further gentrification in Pilsen & part of city's war on Black & Brown Chicago. Rahm & Lori's policies have resulted in thousands of Brown families & residents being displaced. Chicago has lost over 250,000 Black residents in a decade. 8/8
