Welcome to my first thread! I am going to explain why there is a solid chance that this year will be the best year ever for the Saints organization. Let's start. (Likes and retweets appreciated)
The first thing to talk about is our QB. Brees' arm is obviously diminishing but he is continuing to play at an extremely high level. He had 27 TDs, 4 INTs, 74.3 cmp%, and a 116.3 QBR on basically 10 games. You could even argue that he is playing his best still! Here is why:
His INT % the past 3 seasons have been the lowest it has ever been in his career. His TD % last season was the highest it's ever been in his career. He is doing this at 41 years old... I think it's clear that Brees is still playing at a crazy high level so let's move on.
Over the offseason, the Saints signed Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders will fit perfectly into the saints system. He will also take pressure off of Michael Thomas who happened to have one of the best seasons for a WR of all time last year. So Brees has a top 3 WR and a top 3 WR2 to...
...work with. What's even crazier is that Sanders is likely not the best new weapon that the Saints will have next season. Kinda. Next season will be a full season with a healthy Kamara and Jared Cook. Let's start with Kamara.
You can argue that Kamara is a top 5 RB when healthy. And he has never even started a full 16 game season! Kamara has been a nightmare in the running and passing game and now that he is fully, I wouldn't be surprised if he has his best season of his career next season.
Now let's talk about Jared Cook. Cook battled injuries last season but in his last 8 games with Brees, he was a nightmare! He had 28 catches, 537 yards, 7 TDs, 14.13 yards per target, 73.7% catch rate, and a PERFECT QBR rating when targeted!!!!!
Those are crazy numbers for a TE. Especially one battling injuries. And anyone that watched any of those games can tell you that the connection between Brees and Cook was special. So imagine a full 16 game season of Jared Cook! Anyways, let's move onto some of our other guys.
Saints have 3 other guys that could have great years as well. First, Latavius Murray. Murray filled in for the games Kamara missed and us Saints fans can all agree that boy did he exceed expectations. He had back to back 100 yard games and 4 TDs!! Could see a solid year from him!
The next guy who was actually a very underrated pickup this offseason was Ty Montgomery. Expectations aren't very high for him but his style actually fits the Saints' scheme quite well. So he is a big question mark but definitely has a lot of potential.
The last guy is Deonte Harris. This guy has a veryyy high ceiling. Sean Payton seems to love him. He is one of the best returners in the league already and has lethal speed. Sean has said he wants to get him more involved in the offense. Meaning we could see some awesome plays...
...from him. He is entering his 2nd year and has already shown great potential. So don't be surprised if he has a good year. Now let's talk about our O-Line then we will move onto our defense.
We have consistently had one of the best O-Lines for years now. And we likely improved with our pick of Cesar Ruiz. He will take place of Larry Warford who allowed a team high, 34 pressures last season. The only part of our O-Line that is a little worrying is Andrus Peat but...
...he is fully healthy so we should see great improvements from him. Meaning our O-Line will be even better. Not to mention arguably the best OT Ryan Ramcyzk. Ryan played lights out last season, even holding JJ Watt to 0 sacks and 0 tackles.😳😳😳 Onto the defense!
Let's start we the D-Line. Our D-Line has been very good. We actually haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher since Nov. 19, 2017😳😳. We also resigned David Onyemata, a guy that has been improving greatly. The big thing about our D-Line is that there is a good chance Cam Jordan...
...has his best season ever this year. The reason for this is that he will finally have 2 good CBs to cover, leaving him more time to get to the QB. Cam has had 30.5 sacks ever since who got drafted? Marshon Lattimore. So now a full season of a great CB1 and CB2 will leave Cam...
...with many sack opportunities. To back this up, Cam’s previous best season was in 2013 when Keenan Lewis played CB at a very high level. Speaking of our secondary, let's talk about our improvements in our secondary this offseason.
Lattimore played lights out for almost all of last year. Him and Janoris Jenkins have proved that they are a lethal duo together. Then talking about safeties, we did lose Vonn Bell but we signed veteran and ex-saint, Malcom Jenkins. Him and Marcus Williams should easily be...
...one of the better safety duos is the league. 2nd to last thing, our LBs. Demario Davis who is one of the most underrated players in the league has played at an elite level the past few seasons. Also getting Alex Anzalone back should provide some great Linebacker play.
To cap the thread off, our special teams. All that needs to be said is Big. Nutz. Lutz.
Saints have been building a strong roster for years now and with everyone healthy, there is definitely a chance that we see the best Saints season in Saints history!
There it is. The end of the thread. It was extremely long so if you read the whole thing, I thank you very much but I understand if not! Thank you! Have a good day :)
