Dorohedoro, it’s a series by author Hayashida Q. published in 2001 and just now recently getting an anime in 2020. It’s one of the most unique and charming series ever with one of the best fanbases to add to that.
1. Plot and MC, Kaiman is a amnesiac in a world of magic and devils. Teaming with his best friend Nikaido as he goes around The Hole and world of Dorohedoro trying to find the Magic User who turned his head into a lizard while managing a gyzo restaurant. But the journey-
and Mystery is more than it seems, running into all types of people ranging from humans to magic users to even Satan himself!
2. World and Cast, the cast of characters in Dorohedoro is seriously top 10 in my opinion and I believe many who’ve read the series think so too. A Weird and unique world inhabited by just as weird and unique characters added with s-tier designs and vibrant personalities to boot.
3. The Female Cast, the female cast in Dorohedoro is top 10 material as well having some of the best written female characters in anime and manga. All of them strong, funny, great designs and being all around badasses with their own desires and backstories along with that.
4. The Artwork, the artwork in Dorohedoro is so incredibly stunning. The grittiness and distortion it brings only adds to the tone of the series, and especially amazing in the horror aspect and with the more gory scenes and the way paneling is done is like no other series out
5. Character Designs, like I’ve mentioned before the designs of the characters are S-Tier all having something to do with the character themselves along with just looking fucking cool in the dark and horrorpunk aesthetic that Dorohedoro is all about
6. Ebisu, behold! She’s awesome, that’s pretty much it. And if you loved Kagura from Gintama then you’ll love ebisu as well.
7. Gyoza, and The Gyoza Fairy, also behold! Gyoza is good as hell, and in Dorohedoro it plays a huge part in the story since Nikaido runs a gyoza restaurant and other weird reasons. So if you watch/read Dorohedoro it might make you check out and eat the iconic food for yourself
8. The Anime, being only 1 Season so far the anime is a pretty good adaptation. Though being mostly CGI, it does a good job in the scenes plus the opening is such a banger. So if you wanna check out Dorohedoro, I’ll suggest the anime plus it’s on Netflix around 12 episodes or so.
9. All in all, Dorohedoro is one of the most unique and wild series you’ll ever get into and definitely worthy of a 10/10 rating with a loveable cast of characters, insane art and a interesting world and a solid story it’s something to check out for sure!
