LEADERSHIP HANDBOOKS
A thread on the reasons for having a senior and middle leadership handbook and how we’re planning to use them.
Leaders require good knowledge of persistent problems. Generic leadership skills alone aren’t enough. Strategic thinking and solving problems rely on what we know. The leadership handbooks aim to set out what knowledge that senior and middle leaders might need.
Just like we have a well designed curriculum for children, these slides represent our leadership curriculum - what we want our leaders to know and understand over the next few terms. For example, we intend for all leaders to have a thorough understanding of impact.
The slides are designed to present information clearly in these different domains. We’ll use them for training and for reminders to keep a steady flow of communication about developing knowledge. One area that is particularly exciting is our cultural leadership responsibility.
Part of the handbooks are there to provide clear guidance for certain situations. For example, maintaining a clear purpose for meetings and advice on presenting to colleagues.
Some slides represent established systems that need to be maintained. For example, the curriculum review system for senior leaders and the quality assurance methodology for middle leaders.
Happy to share with anyone interested in seeing the handbooks in their entirety. DM for copies...
