A few notes on Trump's effort to exclude undocumented immigrants from counts for congressional seats: https://www.texastribune.org/2020/07/21/trump-undocumented-immigrants-census-redistricting/
If successful, this would cost Texas congressional seats. Recent estimates show undocumented population in Texas has reached nearly 1.8 million. #txlege

This will face challenges over constitutionality. But where would the govt even get the data?
2020 Census doesn't ask about citizenship. Administrative records are incomplete. The govt asked Texas to share driver's license database, but you may remember that data is unreliable.

Texas used that data last year to scour the voters rolls for noncitizens. The state ended up questioning citizenship status of nearly 100K registered voters, only to discover later that tens of thousands of them were naturalized citizens: https://www.texastribune.org/2019/02/01/texas-citizenship-voter-roll-review-how-it-turned-boondoggle/
Notably, Texas House leaders previously told @TexasTribune they have no plans to change the way they draw #txlege and congressional districts, even with more detailed citizenship data.
