Let's talk film/TV. A ton of major news starring some of our favorites dropped over the last few days. First up: Yara Shahidi and her mother Keri inked an overall deal with ABC, keeping the Shahidi's part of the Disney family in what is sure to be a multiyear deal.
DeVon Franklin has quietly taken over both the big + small screen over the last few years. He has a multi-year first look film deal with Paramount, a second look deal with Netflix and now a overall deal with CBS TV Studios. But here's what I love most about his work, the stories.
Franklin will bring to life the story of Richard Montanez, a FritoLay janitor who went on to create the $300M+ Flamin' Hot brand, a Kirk Franklin biopic and Daring to Live, the story of four Black women who go on extreme adventures to overcome some of their greatest fears.
Netflix won an estimated $100M bid for the Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts-led flick, Leave The World Behind. This will be the first time the pair will be on screen together since The Pelican Brief in 1993.
