I've very recently been in conversations with communities & companies looking to make the move to @discord
I'm gonna thread up some of the top things I think about when having these conversations as to why I always champion for Discord

1. Discord OFF THE BAT is just BETTER at allowing granular moderation.
Other platforms have trickled in, but with gaming being a relatively toxic space, Discord knew off the bat how important it was to protect the communities built on it's platform.

2. Category channel grouping is SO important.
Having too little channels = too much noise
Having too many channels = noise too spread
Discord really helps you be specific in your channel grouping. Starting with less always means you can add more as needed

3. VOICE AND VIDEO CHAT + SCREEN SHARE

4. Custom emoji's are an absolutely HUGE win here. Most platforms wouldn't dare
5. Discord Nitro and Server boosting is a smart, non-obstrusive, pay as you want idea that makes me feel like I'm really supporting something I love.
Not being blocked from enjoying a platform until I pay.

6. Bot creation is SUCH a huge piece of the puzzle.
Not only is the current space already pretty filled with creative and useful bots, but digging in yourself leaves you with endless (decent) barrier to entry ways to get started on your own custom bots for your community.
