How to create a lifestyle business:

I’m going to give you some super quick advice on how to build a biz around your life.

So that you ENJOY work, and love what you do.

A tiny thread...
First, a quick definition — a lifestyle business, to me, is a business that fits into your life.

Not the other way around.

It accounts for the things you LOVE and the things you HATE.

So, let’s dive in...
I want you to get a piece of paper, and write down a few things.

First — What are your non-negotiables?

These are things you love in your personal life that you’d never give up: date night with the wife, hobbies, travel, whatever it is...
Write down how many hours per week you want to spend doing this stuff...

As a quick example:

For me, I take off Friday night & Saturday to spend with my girl, see friends etc.

I will never schedule work in during those times.

Next up...
I want you to write down:

• Things in your business you hate (the things that you wake up, dreading to do)

• The things that you love doing

For me, I hated client work, so I built a new business where I didn’t have to do client work.

I love coaching, so I now do that.
But building a lifestyle business isn’t just about firing this stuff out.

It’s about structuring your business in a way that allows you to be free & do what you love.

So once you have a list of tasks you hate doing, I want you to...
Go down the list and write “D” next to tasks you can delegate.

And “O” next to tasks you can outsource.

Lastly write “S” for tasks you 100% at this point have to do yourself (there shouldn’t be many of these).
Next, I want you to figure out your bandwidth for work.

Ask yourself:

• Whats my desired monthly income?
• How many hours do I want to work?

Then figure out the exact number of clients to hit that mark.

These questions seem simple, but they’ll help you:
1. Structure the amount of work hours you want into a schedule that fits around your hobbies.

2. Have it so that you only do tasks you love (these are usually high level tasks that account for travel, whatever)

3. Delegate things you hate, freeing up your mental bandwidth
A year ago, I was running a business I didn’t enjoy because it was making me money.

(My agency).

Ever since switching towards coaching, I work 5 ish hours a week, travel whenever & enjoy life.

I still get burnout (when I try too much), but in general I love my business.
I have an entire process for doing this, that’s a bit more hands on & rigorous than this thread.

I’m throwing it into my new book.
