Brothers responding to the previous survey, let me get to the heart of it as you think through your answers. As you preach/teach/talk things like submission and biblical manhood and womanhood, you often have no idea what those women are dealing with. I serve women everyday.
You cannot even imagine the stories I hear. And you can’t imagine how godly many of them are trying to be and how much angst they are in as they try to figure out their roles and as they deal with the rejection of husbands who have sexually abandoned them for porn.
You don’t know the secrecy they’re living with and how many feel like they will not “honor” their husbands if they tell someone, for example, how unstable he is. Simplistic answers for terribly complicated situations are not just unhelpful. They are perilous. Serve these women.
If you stay far enough away from the women of your congregations & don’t serve shoulder to shoulder with females who can speak plainly to you & are respected by you & represent other women accurately, you will not have to think about these things. This is part of the disconnect.
I give you my word, this discussion is in good faith. But it dang well needs having.
