I know I talk about that one time I had hundreds of transphobes dogpile me a lot but I feel the need to talk about it every time someone on this app suggests victims of harassment should just log off or block everyone and move on...

Let's talk about this again
Cw transphobia
Last year I made a tweet that got picked up by the brand name terfs on Twitter. After a day my tweet had over 300 replies. Prominent terfs had rted and screenshot it. My notifications blew up so bad Twitter stopped alerting me.
I had posted something against an org in my city that is famous is terf circles. They all assumed I was a trans women so all the replies were about how I was ugly, a freak, a rapist, a pedo, misogynist, how I would never be a woman, etc
Terfs are wise to Twitter rules so I only got a few "kys" replies, but every single one held that energy. They chatted to each other in the replies about how ugly, how manly, fat, disgusting I was. When they realized I'm trans masc, they said "gross I guess we have to claim her"
They spread out onto my other posts as well. My pinned post got targeted, previous posts had hate smeared on them. I got accused of a horrendous vandalism that happened days prior. They attempted logins to my account causing my phone to text me 10 times at 4am for password reset-
-codes. Weeks later I found an old tweet of mine talking about my PTSD and how I was turning 30 next year had a reply with a comic depicting how all trans people commit suicide at 30.

So obviously harassment, right? What was my response to this, what could I do to protect me?
I went through the process of mass reporting and blocking everyone. Reporting takes a minute or two, blocking takes a second, multiple that by 300.

To report someone you need to accurately report what they did, to do that you need to read the tweet.
"Is this tweet threatening me harm? Is it encouraging self harm? Is it just transphobic?" I had to ask that about 300 replies. I had to do this over and over as more replies rolled in.
I got new follows and had to start checking every new follow, bc a lot were transphobes looking to keep an eye on me. I got added to lists. I had qrts I had to track down.
Bc I hate transphobes I ended up going to the accounts of ones I couldnt report outright, to see if I could find other reportable tweets
I spent hours reading the worst insults directed at me from strangers. I didnt sleep all weekend. Not going on Twitter cut off a social space and distraction. My mom was scared the harassment would spill into real life.
The methods of dogpiling are the same across this platform but I was lucky that the terfs got bored with me and moved on after a few days. Artists on this platform deal with this shit over months
What is a victims responsibility to not get harassed? What are people expected to do to prevent being screamed at by strangers? This sort of harassment is meant to eliminate and silence ppl. It's reactionary but with purpose
