Indian Expansionism, a thread.
When India existed the first time as an independent country after 1947, there were more than 600 independent princely states. Many wished to remain independent, though that was not the wish of India.
On September 13th, 1948. The Indian army invaded the state of Hyderabad, even though they had declared independence for more than a year. They were forcefully incorporated into India, this invasion resulted in deaths between 30K to 200K.
The state of Manipur, although having declared independence for two years, was invaded by India. The Maharaja (ruler) of Manipur was kidnapped then coerced to cede Manipur to India.
Whether through covert actions, coercion or by military invasion, India has annexed countless princely states throughout the decades, continuing to expand its territories.
By the 1960s, the belligerent Indians were high on expansionism. On December 18th, 1961, the Indian army invaded Goa, a rightful colony of Portugal. Portugal, overwhelmed by drugged soldiers with the dream to conquer the world, was forced to retreat.
In Nehru’s autobiography of 1934, he spoke of a greater Indian federation that would include parts of China, Cambodia, Sikkim (Now India), Afghanistan, and others.
After Goa, India looked to China.

China in 1961 was the China that broke off with the USSR, suffering from the three years of natural disaster, a recession due to the great leap forward and concerned by the dreamers on a particular island.
Whether India had the ability to annex parts of China is questionable (they couldn’t), Nehru picked a perfect time for an invasion, the early 1960s was indeed the weakest times of the PRC. They had full excuse after supporting the armed uprising of slave owners in 1959 of Tibet.
India demanded the annexation of Tibet, and asked China to draw Sichuan as a demilitarization zone. Indeed, their arrogance has not changed even to now. Nehru threatened to wipe the Chinese military off Chinese territories.
On October 20th, the Indian army started shelling the Chinese border guard. The Chinese military retaliated.

On October 22nd, the Chinese department of defense declared that the Chinese army no longer needs to remain restrained by the former borders.
From that day on, the Chinese army began full retaliation. All Indian troops in the way of the PLA were defeated. The PLA had taken Chaku by November 17th, the remaining defenses were demoralized and broken. Nothing stopped China from the capital of India by this point.
But unlike Indians, the Chinese were not of expansionists. The Chinese military was ordered to retreat back to the original borders.
Now, you would imagine India to have learned the lesson not to expand. But perhaps belligerency was what defined their people. On December 3rd, 1971, the Indian military invaded East Pakistan and forced its surrender. Converting the country to Bangladesh, an Indian vassal.
Remember Sikkim that Nehru mentioned? The Indian military invaded Sikkim, imprisoned its ruler, and annexed the state.

To see the Indians attempting to spark border conflicts is nothing more than a repeat of history.
