The Woman Behind The Song, “Brown Sugar,” And how she was ill-treated by lanky ass Mick Jagger: a thread.
As most people know, ( if you’re a Rolling Stones stan of course,) about the controversial song, “Brown Sugar,” but did y’all know the story of the woman behind it?

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO MARSHA HUNT. she was born and raised in Philadelphia on April 15th, 1946, with her mom be
TW// suicide

Being working in the home front during the World War II, and her father being a intelligent medical student who never lived with his daughter, Marsha. Unfortunately, her father committed s*icide and Marsha never knew until she was 15 years old.
Miss Marsha Hunt was raised by predominantly three women, two who had the characteristics of the deep south in her aunt Thelma and her grandmother Edna, who she describes as a “extremely aggressive and ass kicking independent woman.” Marsha and her family moved to California—
in 1960. She attended Oakland High School, where she had decent grades and eventually graduated in 1964. She then started attending UC Berkeley in the late summer. There she first experimented with acid and smoked pot, and started to embrace her nudity.
Marsha became bored abt college life in America, and she wanted to experience life out of the country. Around this time, London was THEE city of the mid-60s, having nicknamed as “Swinging London.” Marsha was inspired by it, and made the decision to move there in February 1966.
Marsha met Mike Ratledge, who was a lead singer in the group Soft Machine. Due to her having troubles with her visa, she decided to get married to him a day before her bday in 1967. She claims that they never kissed and held hands, but traveled with his band for 2 months.
Around this time, Marsha needed to make ends meet, so she decided to work part time jobs that included back up singing for artists such as the legendary Alexis Korner. She herself said she wasn’t a good singer, due to the English who thought that every black person can sing—
and dance, it gave her a surprise good start of her severely underrated music career. In 1968, Marsha joined the short lived British soul group, The Ferris Wheel, which included singer Linda Lewis. Around this time, Marsha’s life would change forever when she auditioned and got—
the role of “Dionne,” of the smash classic musical, “Hair.” Although her character has only two lines of dialogue....MANEEE she instantly became a phenomenon everywhere in the UK in the late 60s. She attracted lots of media attention, and from that gave us these iconic pics.
As a result from all the attention she received from the public, she finally got a record contract, and it gave her the chance to perform at the legendary Isle Of Wright Festival in 1969 with her backup band called “White Trash.”
It also gave her the chance to perform on European tv shows, which is down below. She made UNDERRATED ANTHEMS such as a cover of “Walk On Gilded Splinters,” and a cover of T. Rex’s “Desdemona.” ANYWAYS BOTH SONGS are better than the original.
Around this time in 1969, before what’s his face, Marsha met T. Rex lead singer Marc Bolan. Although they never had a full on affair, they became very close friends and often times recorded together on tracks. Here’s a good example of a underrated gem
Now,,,,here’s the part you all have been waiting for. Is your popcorn ready? You got it? Good.

Marsha Hunt received a phone call from a representative of The Rolling Stones to be in a ad for their new single, “Honky Tonk Woman,” in very suggestive clothing, but she refused—
Marsha claims that she “didn’t want look like she was had by all The Rolling Stones,” which was why she refused.

ENTER MICK JAGGER. He first called her, then made a surprise visit to her Bloomsbury flat one night, and she describes it: “He drew one hand out of his pocket and—
pointed it at me like a pistol— Bang.” From that encounter, started an a year long love affair. Mick have a great impression on Marsha, and according to her in her own words, “Made me squeal whenever he used Melanigian slang.” ( aka AAVE ) Marsha and Mick started to be together
more and more often, Giving her a nickname, “Miss Fuzzy,” due to her big beautiful Afro. While Mick was away in Australia filming “Ned Kelly,” he wrote so called “passionate” letters to her, which included references to John Lennon and Yoko Ono, the moon landing, poetry and—
his sexual desires for Hunt. Some of the quotes from the letters:

“I feel with you something so unsung there is no need to sing it…”

“I will kiss you softly. And bite your mouth too.”

“you’re so nice to an evil old man like me”. He also wrote letters that included lyrics—
from the song, “Monkey Man,” by adding comments on some of the lyrics as “dodgy,” and “OK.” Also during this time, he was writing the controversial song, “Brown Sugar,” which was originally titled, “Black Pussy.” It was supposed to be a “tribute” to Marsha Hunt.
After his return from Australia, he asked Hunt to go on the upcoming 1969 US tour with him, but couldn’t due to having to fly to Denmark for a film. But right after the tour, the pair had gotten more closer than ever, and from Altamont and the emotional impact it had him, the—
affair intensified to the point where one day, he took her out to Mr. Chow’s Resturant in early 1970, and asked if she wanted to have a baby with him. Due to him still being affected by Marianne’s fatal miscarriage, he was very desperate to have a child, and Marsha, feeling bad—
About his girlfriend’s growing addiction to drugs and her miscarriage, she agreed to have a child with him. Some time later, she told him that she was two weeks pregnant with his child, and according to her, she was okay with an abortion if he didn’t want the child anymore, but—
he refused and told her he wanted to keep the child, giving the name of the child Midnight Dream, if it was a boy. ( Marsha said no THANK GOD.) and sending him to the prestigious Eton school.

but That’s when things started going DOWNHILL.
In her 5th month of her pregnancy ( Which was July,) Mick suddenly started to have weird behavior changes and he and Marsha wasn’t hanging out like they used to back in 1969. According to her, In her first weeks of pregnancy, “He had been all tenderness and positivity, but now—
Vacillated between approval and disapproval...it alerted me that he was already forgetting the baby was HIS idea.”

Around this time, he was having multiple affairs with Californian groupie women, until he met his future wife Bianca in Sep 1970, and instantly forgot abt Marsha
until she gave birth to her only daughter, Karis Jagger, on November 4th, 1970. Marsha never told the press who was the father until 3 years later. Mick wasn’t there to witness the childbirth.
He did, however, called Marsha after months of rarely talking to her and ignoring her, and invited her and the newborn to take photos.

Marsha said: “We had a child on purpose. He said he wanted a child and I said I wanted one as well. So we had a baby together and now he is—
no longer involved with us. At first I thought he was a person I cared for a lot, but I found out afterwards I didn’t really know him at all.” After that, they never saw each other for nearly a year as he focused on Bianca ( who was also played by Mick but that’s another thread )
One day Marsha was upset at the fact that he was intentionally ignoring her and the child, and called him after not speaking to each other for weeks. She started to call him out on his bullshit and that he should see Karis, and Mick gave out a very hostile response by stating—
“I never loved you, and you’re mad if you think I ever did!” He also went on to say “She’s my child, and I can take her away anytime I feel like it.” Marsha threatened to “blow his brains out,” if he even thought about it.

PURR MADAM. LET HIM KNOW.
During this time, it was early to mid 1971, and the stones were in tax exiles in France. Mick had gotten married to Bianca who was also pregnant with his child. In September of that year, after not seeing Marsha in nearly a year, he invited her to come visit him in St Tropez.
Marsha agreed, since she needed money from Mick after Karis got burned from tea spill & needed to pay for her medical bills.

When Marsha went there, she was taken to Mick Taylor’s house instead of Mick Jagger’s house, since Bianca was not comfortable with Marsha being around.
When Marsha was finally driven to Mick’s house however, she was completely ignored by Mick when she had dinner with mick and Bianca who was talking together in French, and intentionally ignoring her presence.

After dinner, Marsha asked Mick in private for 500 dollars to pay—
For Karis medical bills. He paid her the money without even speaking or even looking at her in the eye.
that was the last time the two encountered each other. For the next year and a half mick continued to intentionally ignore Marsha and Karis by not responding to Marsha’s calls, and rarely ever seeing Karis. Until June 1973. Around this time, Marsha was doing small roles in—
