Ok....the #question pops up in my mind every year, when the #socialmedia explodes with the #grindadrap. Is it #sustainable or not?
I read on @NAMMCO_sec website "The removals by drive #hunting at the #FaroeIslands have been and are considered sustainable" https://nammco.no/topics/long-finned-pilot-whale/ https://twitter.com/Seasaver/status/1283668723166064640
Although the last comprehensive #assessment was in 1997, but a full assessment of the #sustainability of both the #Faroese and #Greenlandic catches is planned for 2021. Looking forward to this 🐬
Although concerns are raised on increasing catches in #Greenland and the possibility of detecting changes in the population structure that might not have been detected yet. @GillBraulik & Co. have done the assessment at @IUCNRedList
Interesting #thread to follow.
@seashepherd and I tweet about #grindadrap. @Seasaver, @OceanicRescue, @B4_Cetaceans and others that argue #grindstop (...and if you argue for) are welcome to join. I'm curious on any views 🙂 https://twitter.com/FishyGuyOleH/status/1285439692918358016?s=20
