Rog vs Pete. "I guess there are some players who are born to play on Centre Court" said the commentator after one game.

Rog did return well in this match. And mentally tough - having been mugged for the 2nd set, he broke at last (on 11th BP) at the start of the 3rd, only to be broken straight back... could easily have folded
Second easy overhead miss of the match for Pete - unheard of! And this on BP
Pete was definitely a bit anxious in this match - even showed emotion at times! He knew this guy represented a significant challenge, all right.
Rog really is pretty aggressive on return - relatively few blocks, interestingly. And his driven BH dips the ball wickedly at the feet of the volleyer; even Sampras finds it tough to handle.
So was it in fact this match that represented the beginning of the end for serve-volley? Because if these two are in negative territory...
"Sampras has never lost a 5-set match at Wimbledon..."
This was a great shot, but anyone watching this match would have no idea that Fed's FH would end up dominating tennis for several years - mainly because there's so much net play. They'd have no doubt about the quality of his serve though!
