since so many people seem to be unaware of the problematic things mary aka @ feministgayry has done, here’s a thread. #LGBTQtogether
first of all mary’s tag is extremely white washed. the most popular tweets are white people and the black people that participate barely get any attention. mary doesn’t do anything to change this. many people have asked her to do a specific poc tag, but she’s denied every time.
on top of that, many people who have done a poc lgbt+ tag have asked mary for her support by her retweeting this but she has also denied this every single time.
she tweeted something that many people (for obvious reasons) were offended by, which you can see in the pictures down below. besides the “apology” that is in the screenshots, she has never apologized for this.
mary created the #juneisforLGBT tag in the middle of the black lives matter movement. the phrase first “june is for gays” first got introduced by a white gay democrat with ill intentions behind it.
regardless of whether she knew the story behind it or not, she still could’ve thought about how the wording sounded wrong.
she has also done matchmaking threads in the past, that were 15+. she asked them to drop pictures, share their location, age, relationship status and interests. this endangers minors by giving possible predators so much information they can use to identify the minor.

and last but not least, she liked this tweet and the reply to that tweet. the tweets seem to completely diminish any effort other creators have put into their tags, and mary liking them feels like her agreeing.

i just woke up but overnight a friend of mary has been subtweeting me about this thread and mary liked one of her tweets. just thought i’d share it with you guys.
