You guys use the phrase, "African parents", mostimes to create the impression that African parents are barbarians. Try sometimes to use it in defining love. I just watched the video that has made she's 18 to trend on Twitter.
Some people think the father did great only because they've suffered and may still be suffering same fate from their parents. Nothing is wrong in disciplining your child. Sometimes these things are borne out of love. But we can still learn how to show this love differently,
especially when the other person in the relationship (the child) stands a chance of misinterpreting it, mostly because of having suffered serious physical harm. Even emotional harm. How about a mild whipping that is followed by seizure of phone? Or simply seizure of the phone.
Instead of making a predator and prey scene. The flogging is not even my problem, but it was too much abeg. It's not even about the fact that she's 18, even though that makes the situation more terrible.
There are African parents dat discipline their children, tactically, not necessarily pouring out anger. What u call discipline shld be done with care; it may just turn out ur worst mistake if no care is taken. Parental love is expressed in many different ways, flogging follow sha
We shld just take care in d way we express it. Sometimes we only pray d child grows up to understand. But why video the child nd publish on social media if the flogging is only abt correction? She's 18, nd whether you like it or not, this is a serious psychological trauma for her
And please, stop saying because you were beaten others, too, should be beaten. It's not everybody that can handle the trauma others handle successfully. People are different. I pray she has the strength to handle this one, especially now that it's everywhere on the media.
