One of the most horrible things I heard about the House of Lords was from Nat Wei, a Conservative peer who is involved in Bristol’s housing. He said that when he joined he was offered an area of which to be a lord and he chose Shoreditch. And he said it with such pride. /

To be in charge of an area even symbolically is such a horrendous idea to me. To be ‘given’ an area. That’s why I don’t understand how Greens can even accept being in the House of Lords or being Lord Mayors.

There are no chosen people.
