Sir, I believe most of us have narcissistic tendencies. Our actions scream selfishness but our words deny same. We are slavishly preoccupied with personal gain but not the collective narrative (common good).

The rut of our narcissism is evident in our leadership. I'll explain. https://twitter.com/segalink/status/1284583020880695297
Jordan Peterson, during a lecture, said that Democracy is derived from the word Demon which Socrates defined as a moral guide (i.e. conscience).

The voice you hear when you are about to do something wrong and which if you yield to enables you make wise decisions.
A democratic state is the emerging consequence of the decisions of its citizens. The wiser their decisions, the more upright and functional the state becomes and vice versa. (It's no rocket science!)

Hence, the state can only function if people attend to their consciences.
The difference between a corrupt and a functional country is the nature of the consciences of those who cast the votes.

As Nigerians, we cannot deny the reality of corruption and neglect of the pursuit of common good.

What influences the vote of the average Nigerian?
Many of us have left our consciences unattended to and have become selfish and narcissistic, no better than our leaders!

Why should anyone glorify or excuse a thing (fraud) that limits our global participation in business and opportunities?

How much truth can we tolerate?
Democracy is a function of numbers and until the larger percentage of our population attend to their consciences and yield to its dictates, our decisions will reek of selfishness and corruption.

The shackles of bad leadership and corruption may eventually choke us!
And going abroad isn't a safe bet. When your country becomes a global nuisance, imagine what nations will do to dissociate with it.

Change will occur when, on a large scale, we consciously yield to the dictates of our consciences and decide to accept and stand for the truth.
