An interesting take on Bahawalpur, by @SarmadXIV.
If someone challenged Bahawalpur's merger into Punjab in 1970 in the supreme court, on the basis of instrument of accession signed by the Nawab and Qaid-e-Azam, there's a good chance that the merger will be nullified.

Lest we forget, one of the conditions agreed upon by State of Pakistan and State of Bahawalpur for laters accession was that Bahawalpur will remain a separate unit of the federation and it's geographical boundaries will not be changed. Basically, will be a province.

So, when we lament India changing Article 370 regarding Kashmir's accession to India, Pakistan did a similar thing to Bahawalpur in 1970.
