One of most intriguing animal & possibly the most persecuted in Animal kingdom.
In Hinduism snakes always held a very special place. Worshipped, respected from Asana of Shri Vishnu to the neck & head of Shri Adi Yogi Shiva.
We were known as a country of snakes

& Snake charmers until it was seen in bad light by the British Empire,a sign of us being less cultured.
In this thread i am attempting to dig the reason why through some research articles, mythology & Ayurveda.
Snakes are found world wide except few countries like NZ.

Max no. Of species found in Indian subcontinent.
Mythologicaly Snakes are a symbol of Maturity, life,death & rebirth. Bcoz of snakes shedding skin & the life span of dome species.
Astrologicaly too Snakes are considered important.
Main reason of its link with wisdom could be

Scientifically it could be related to its evolved mechanism of hunting & evolved venom production
However,only 200/600 species are venomous
In Hinduism,6 Most venomous snakes hold most important place
Astika, Adishesha, Vasuki, Kaliya & Manasa Devi, also Goddess of fertility
Symbolism of Snakes can be found upto Egypt & Greece, as God of Medicine, rebirth & fertility.
Concluding Pagan worship always knew the importance of Snakes.

Until the later years when Chr! Stianity took over conversion.
Snakes were conveniently related to treachery & cunning

Poor Adam & Eve were fooled by the venomous Snake with forked tongue.
Suddenly Snake became abhorrent & regressive. Snake charmer became abuse.

Coming to why Snakes Venom is so important, Is bcoz it has a distinct complexity when compared to venom of other animals as spiders

In Ayurveda,
Acharya Vaghbata in 48th Chapter of "Vishopayogiya Adhyaya", mentioned 47 different formulations. The knowledge was lost over time.

Back to therapeutic potential of snake Venom, to treat diseases like Parkinson's, Diabetes, Hyper tension, Stroke, Alzheimer's, skin diseases, excessive bleeding & Cancer, owing to its capacity of aiding in regrowth of cells.
