So many of you are probably wondering about the significance of Ligand Pharmaceuticals and $NOVN
Ligand are big on acquisitions, just recently in February they spent $40m acquiring some of Icagen Pharmaceuticals assets, research and technologies.
They're currently trading at $122 per share and have a market cap of $2bn.

Now for the interesting part, Ligand has already invested $12m into Novans SB-207 program and will earn 7-10% of future sales IF the treatment is successful.
Its important to note that, Ligand DO NOT want SB-206 to fail.

This week, Novan has suddenly terminated their 50,000 Sq ft building lease. They are now subleasing 12,000 Sq ft at the same location. So that means someone else is moving in with Novan.
Who might that be?

Well, according to an 8K document filed with the SEC, the new mysterious tenant will pay Novan a sum of money as a result of the move. Novan's new lease is also flexible and can be cancelled at anytime..
The 8K form also stated that a condition of Novan being allowed to terminate their lease was that a suitable replacement had to be found. (Will be Another big pharma).
The site at which Novan is currently located is also one of the biggest Bio-Research parks in the US.

So Ligand already has a foot in the door with Novan, now Novan is suddenly sharing its lease, gets paid in the process and is also followed by Ligand on twitter...

To me, these dots point to deeper collaboration between Novan and another big pharma, which I think will be Ligand - you're only going to share office space with a company you are familiar/already working with.
Remember, Ligand has huge motivation for SB-206 to succeed.
