Here is one of my least favorite social behaviors which can be very easily observed on social media:

Predator/aggressor disguised as victim gathers a merry band of compliant henchfolk & goes to war. I am not a fan of this.
This power game is a revolving competition to designate who is currently the greatest victim, the most downtrodden & oppressed, as approved by the mob. According to the rules of the games, all lesser competitors for most broken have no right to speak.
For these predators, it has nothing to do with whatever movement or activism is being put forth, instead, it’s all about social power rituals & validation. It’s about the performance online. No actual physical actions required.
Just use the accepted terminologies & symbols (which always eventually change) & keep tabs on all those who can’t keep up. Someone said the wrong thing, expressed an unaccepted thought?
Put them on the list.

Eventually everybody gets on the list, but who thinks about that?
Some of the most malignant & aggressive creatures I have ever encountered would be the first to passionately proclaim themselves victims, but make no mistake, it is a trap.
They will consume your compassion, pity, etc & then try to devour you as well. One more sacrifice on their social validation altar, one of many. And it will never be enough.
The super-victims will always require more attention, more followers, more cronies willing to attack on a mere word. Beware. These are some of the hungriest people in the world. They are addicts scrolling Twitter for the next fix.
I wonder how many times genuine causes & social movements have been destroyed by behavior like this? It’s depressing. The wounded attack each other endlessly & meanwhile nothing gets solved, or so it seems.
Aren’t we united in suffering? We will all lose things we love, people we love. Who isn’t wounded in some way, physically, mentally, spiritually?
Who hasn’t had their heart broken? Who isn’t guarding a secret sickness or grief?
Who hasn’t received at least one solid ass-kicking by life itself? It’s a part of being a human being, no one is exempt. It should unite us.

It should! But it doesn’t.
The assholes in charge literally bank on the fact that the downtrodden will tear each other apart first. The assholes in charge are masters of this game. They so often call the tunes we all dance to
And sometimes it seems like everybody’s going to be dancing to this same tired music,
right up to the very moment all the bigger issues we ignored
while endlessly fighting about stupid crap get too big to fix
& the dance hall burns down around us.
And this is why I usually stay out of the political portion of Twitter. This is one of many reasons I’d rather stare at tree bark or clouds than the media hydra in its many forms
Here is some petrified wood.

Life’s too short. Go be lovely to someone or something.
