When our Constitution was created in 1787, the 13 states were an agrarian society still depending on slavery to do the overwhelming amount of work necessay to survive.
Machines had not been thought of. Limited liabilty companies (corporations) had not been invented. -->
Let alone the kind of campaign finance e see today. News traveled at 20 per day in good weather. The Battle of New Orleans was fought 18 days after the end of the War of 1812 because news of the end of the war hadn't reached New Orleans. -->
The outcome of elections was not known to most for weeks. Congress relied on outhouses for necessary human elimination functions. The germ theory of disease was in it's infancy and the general population had no awareness of it. -->
Cross Atlantic travel was by sailing ship and took weeks/months. Land travel was on foot or by horse.
