I kinda hate this a lot lmao
I've been kicked out of a place for being in a queer relationship, and it's because the way queerness is treated by cishets they hyperfocus on sexuality and persecute queer people for EXISTING in public spaces

Pushing back and saying it's good and cool for consenting adults to have spaces to have sex inherently involves lots of smaller finickier discourses about queerness that might not be instantly apparent but dismissing it out of hand like this is just naive honestly
It's not just a discourse about exhibitionism lol it's about lots of different shit come on bud
Fundamentally it's just an extension of Sex +ve discourse bringing it to a more visceral place so we can discuss more effectively.
It's like saying "some women have penises" instead of "trans women are women"
Push for a society that accepts a wider variety of sexual expression

And then even putting all that aside, I find it really pretty unpleasant Peter keeps being towards queerness specifically.
Calling this take "insane", joking about "the real virus is UWUVALID-19". I'm not trying to compile a laundry list to cancel them with here but this sucks

I feel like I only see them talk about queerness to shit on it now
Umberto Ecco talked about how fascism celebrates beauty in an aggressively sexless way.
Everything from nazi propaganda to the reclaiming of ancient Greek erotic art as "classical" art.

Black dance culture has been repeatedly stigmatised for the flagrant sexuality of dancing styles. here in London you see people complain about Notting Hill Carnival in this way. Historically all the gibberish panic about jazz fever making women want to run away with black men
Queerness is the same. Public displays of and acceptance of sexuality as a natural part of life fights back against an oppressive social norm. This is a very reasonable and good take and imo pushes people's buttons in just the right way
So specifically saying not to even use the discourse as a way to talk about anything is patently ridiculous when you can actually see how effective and provocative this take is IN PETERS REACTION
I say please do use this take as much as you possibly can to go talk about systemic issues. I think it's great.
Also go fuck in public.
