I'm not subtweeting anyone, but I feel like it should be pretty basic common sense why WB won't release TENET on VOD or Disney won't release MULAN on D+. It has nothing to do with "theatrical experience". Each movie would need to make $800mil to BREAK EVEN. These aren't indies.
No, movie theatres should not open this year. They might overseas, though, since most international markets have gotten COVID under control, unlike the US. But thinking that it's as simple as "Just release the movies on streaming" is impossibly naive & uninformed about economics.
So a basic understanding that these are highly calculated financial decisions in a dire, unprecedented situation will tell you that it's not simple at all. But everyone just wants to react, not read and learn. IDK why I keep beating this drum, no one listens anyways.
