Ok, this isn't going to break into a long thread likely but I have a few things to request of the females who follow me or lay eyes on this tweet now or at any time in the future. The Conservatives believe you belong, and I apologize this isn't word for word, but "barefoot and
tending to the home" or "pregnant and in the kitchen" or any other way to communicate how demeaning and how completely outdated their thinking is. Now just a small tidbit about me. My mom is a pharmacist and I have a sister who is a dietitian. THAT'S where they belong. Oh and,
let's steady ourselves, they had/have families! Women don't BELONG shuttered up in the home. If they choose to embrace that lifestyle, awesome good on them! And here comes out my feminism, men SHOULD NOT DICTATE THEIR "ROLES". I'm a man and I fully stand behind this thinking.
I lied, this is growing into a thread.....this ALWAYS happens (so long winded). At one point in the last five years, I went from being employed in an everyday, pack a lunchbox and go to "work" position to becoming a stay at home dad. I love being a stay at home dad. It started
off as a "circumstances" thing but I'm still doing it. I work still, but my wife is the major breadwinner. At first, I wasn't sure about it. I thought I wasn't doing my "duty". It was a me issue, not an issue about her working. I think it was a personal insecurity, but I've
embraced it fully and I'm using it to work on being a better dad. (Disclaimer: the cooking is a work in progress) I want to say, I stand with ALL women, in any line of work you choose. The "traditional roles" don't govern us anymore and we should do everything possible to fight
back against this stone age government. This is going to be an unfortunate blip on the radar. The world isn't embracing this lifestyle. Women are AS KEY in the working world as men are (I understand there are still inequalities and we as a society have a ways to go). You have an
ally in me. And as an FYI, for those lovely women/men who DO tend to the home, I need to pay the utmost respect. It is a VERY difficult job and doesn't necessarily have the spotlight shone on it anywhere near enough, but you're doing terribly important work too!
