In the wake of John Lewis' death you will see a LOT of images from the Civil Rights era. ALL of these images will be in black & white. This is done intentionally to reinforce a narrative that we have moved past that long ago time. WE HAVE NOT. That time is NOW. we live in color!
The full spectrum of our stories must be told. Black & white images serve to mentally distance the observer from what is happening in the image, preventing connection and identification. If everyone is a shade of gray the main issue literally is muted. ITS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT COLOR
