I literally learned more about football tactics by playing basketball for 10 years than watching Premier League footy bar 3 or 4 teams ffs https://twitter.com/tra1ningday/status/1284426299776393216
Triangles come from basketball, spacing as well. Guardiola asked for advice to Bayern’s basketball coach to how you manage the free-man in basketball so he can apply it in football

Obviously, I’m different than most since I was a point guard who ran the triangle offense for 3 years in a row when I was under 18 (something most managers don’t do at this level since the triangle offense requires a lot of work and a good understanding) https://twitter.com/principleplay/status/1284497686532706307
Also, in basketball, you have a lot of off the ball penetrations to create space, something I found a lot in this overlapping CB pattern from Sheffield United. And I wonder why nobody did it more at the highest level because it makes so much sense
Also, Sevilla, who is probably the team in Europe’s top 5 league who has built the most on crosses from wide areas therefore does have the biggest variety of corners to go with it, uses screens a lot in their corner routines
