I was thinking about the 2A this morning. The photos and stories coming out of Portland & elsewhere are terrifying. These "police officers" resemble invading army in an enemy country or soldiers fighting ISIS terrorists, not a normal police force meant to protect and serve. /1
The enemy they're going after? Us. The American people who believe in democracy. We who oppose trump. Right now, it's peaceful protesters. Later, they'll come knocking on our doors at 3 AM to take us to god knows where. /2
Already there have been reports of people being forced into unmarked vans and taken to abandoned garages. Never mind they're being released later. This is a test run for trump's brownshirts. /3
These "officers" show no ID and don't read their captives their rights. They are violent and brutal when there is no need to be. This is unconstitutional and indicative of a fascist government. /4
Make no mistake. If trump wins (or steals the election and gets away with it), trump is going to turn us into a one party authoritarian state, like Russia, and start rounding up all dissenters. And by dissenters, I don't mean just protesters.

...opposes his iron fisted rule. Being a Democrat or liberal may become illegal. Or the regime may go down the list of registered Dems and start rounding us up. His goons could come knocking on our doors at 3 AM, just like in Nazi Germany. /6
You think this is hyperbole? Did you think concentration camps and family separations were hyperbole? Did you think gassing protesters and committing treason were hyperbole? I did too, and yet those things happened. The regime is following Hitler's playbook to the letter. /7
Now he is letting a virus do his genocidal work for him. Easier and cheaper than roundups and imprisonment. He knows the elderly, poor and POC are the most vulnerable to catching it and dying. So we are there. These armed militias are out for our blood. /8
These people are gun nuts, armed & dangerous.This explains the obsession with guns and refusal to enact commonsense gun laws. Just one of them with an AR15 could take down many of us. The press has been oddly silent, and the government is doing nothing to stop it. /9
Don't think if Biden wins (which it looks like he might, even with blatant attempts by the GOP to suppress our vote) we will be out of the woods. The time between 11/3 and 1/20 will be incredibly dangerous. Trump will do anything to stay in power. /10
And that means his goons will be swarming like love bugs on an August day in Florida (if you've ever been in FL in the middle of summer, you know what I'm talking about!) I don't trust our military to stand up for us. It seems about evenly divided, so who knows about them. /11
We really don't have many options left, but there's one we hesitate (due to our peaceful nature) to talk about: the 2nd Amendment. It's stated in the constitution as such: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people...

Well, guns are certainly not sufficiently regulated, but I would think in a case where our constitutional rights to freedom of speech and right to life are being infringed by an insurgent party of fascists, that we are in our right.../13

...to use them to defend ourselves, since our leaders certainly are not. Many or most of us, by nature, don't care for guns, but it might be in our best interests to start arming ourselves and getting trained in how to use them. /14
