Every single oz of domestic uranium can now be used for the strategic program, w/power plants fuelled by free imports. Membership of MTCR has opened up hi-tech weapons doors - Brahmos-ER, Scalp, MQ9. Just these by themselves r large payoffs for the nuke deal - MMS' true legacy.. https://twitter.com/NarangVipin/status/1284460778318422016
This is wht all NPA said during the negotiations. Blithely ignoring a fundamental pt - India is exceptional, it isnt a rogue state like Pak, or a beligerant one like NoKo. And just a lot more important to the world than bankrupt states... https://twitter.com/NarangVipin/status/1284466958533091332?s=19
NPAs dont look at data:) 2005 - total Indo-US trade was $35bn. 2018 - $140bn. This, w/o including defence trade, which isnt part of trade data. Went past Condi Rice's biggest assumptions surely:) https://twitter.com/PerkovichG/status/1284476250317303808?s=19
Besides the utilitarianism, nuke deal was India's come-of-age exceptionalism. We forced the global "hi table" to chg its rules, for us. Despite Nehruvian rhetoric, we dont want a more equal world, merely one where we r a bigger "unequal", like the big boys https://twitter.com/rohan_mukh/status/1284472556775329792?s=19
We rnt just a large popn. We r the successor state to the British Raj. 5th largest economy. 4th largest army. We shd be on the table making rules, if we r not we shd break the table itself. Exactly wht we did w/the nuke deal. The import is surprisingly underrated within India:)
Utterly curiously, the bhakt brigade shd consider - why did BJP so cussedly oppose the deal in opposition? Even joined hands w/CPM to do so.
